http://jr.co.il/ is Jacob Richman’s very thorough directory of anything Jewish on the internet. From education to humor from Aliyah to computer jobs in Israel – Jewish lists on Twitter, Jewish groups on Facebook, educational tools and games, including Jacob’s own “J site”. And it’s all free! I used it a lot with my students in Winnipeg.

Hazmanah L'Piyut (An invitation to piyut) is like a magic box. You open and automatically you are thrown back into history. Back to the golden age of Spanish Jewry. The words of Rabbi Shlomo Ibn Gvirol, Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi and Ibn Ezra are presented to you, alive with the wonder-filled musical tradition of our heritage. You can choose to listen to the same piyutim in multiple traditions, such as Kurdistani, Litvak, Chassdish, Yemenite, Indian and more. The website also offers academic articles and inspirational essays allowing the reader to gain a background knowledge into a longstanding Jewish musical tradition.

Eye on Israel is a great site that houses an interactive map of Israel. Using the map you can navigate the country and zoom into to smaller maps of individual towns. By floating over the map you can get more information about specific sites and institutions. There is a section on wildlife of Israel and the atlas section allows you to view maps of Eretz Yisrael in different time periods. Eye on Israel also includes links to accomodation, sites and other useful information in each region. The site is easy to navigate and has lovely graphics including moving trains, planes and wildlife.
