We were fortunate to have Alexandra Benjamin present Shir L'Shalom - How Israeli attitudes to war and peace have changed over the decades.
She presented to our ninth and tenth grade students and some adults. She was immediately engaging and knew how to capture her audience. The presentation was carefully formulated and her use of music to demonstrate the changes was very powerful. The students enjoyed the music and, because she provided the words for them, they could follow the significance of what she wanted to demonstrate about how Israeli attitudes to war and peace have changed.
I really believe that this program was important because in our school they have learned about Israel, its government and its conflicts, but they never really have a chance to hear about what Israelis are thinking and feeling. This talk began to explore that for them.
